I've been working on a new collection.
Its called the Brain Collection and I am working towards a solo show.
Good Morning
Its been a hot minute since I rediscovered this blog. Does anyone do blogging anymore? Does anyone read them? Just curious.
Well I never got any recognition for entering the Chelsea Art Show, I was not chosen. Perhaps I will try again next year! I will keep plugging away as a closet artist. I do try and get myself out there, but I find it very hard. Maybe someday, I will have some recognition as an artist......just keep creating in the meantime.....
I am working on a piece to go for charity to help raise funds for treatment for a woman that has been diagnosed with a terminal illness. I will post pics another time, it is still in progress.
I entered the Chelsea International Fine Art Competition in NYC. Just for fun!! Thought I would try it. I entered 4 pieces that I had already done before. Finalists will be announced in 3 days on April 10.
You will never know if you don't try. And if you don't try, it keeps you stagnant as an artist. Makes you strive to be better.

Well its been awhile since I have posted. I have not really been doing too much art lately. Been busy, and I am expecting in August with my first child, so between working full time, and doing the daily errands of life, has left me quite tired. My spare time ends up dedicated to napping. I have never napped so much in my life!
Back in September of 2012, I took a Fine Art Doll Class through a local gallery called the Dollirium.
So this is my finished product from that class. I am working on a couple of other dolls, but I find them very challenging, since I am not great at sewing.
This doll is named "Post apocalyptic Fiona" She is completely hand made and clothing also made and designed by me.
Monday June 18, my photography will be shown in Times Square among many others....at Broadway Plaza between 42 and 44th streets.....
Here is my portfolio.....http://barbarahamilton.artistswanted.org/atts2012

This past week I dropped off my two pieces for submission to the Miniatures Show in Wortley Villiage.
Here are my submissions, I did a little different approach than my usual mixed media for the show.
Both pieces are 3x4" and are $150 each.
The first one is called "Love me not" and the second one is called "Celtic Dream" It has my influence of my duck, nature and birds in general in it and a couple of celtic symbols.
The show will run from Jan 31 - Feb 18, 2012.

Well time flies...doesn't it? I don't really do resolutions however, I do hope to focus more on my art career this year! I got an encaustic kit for Christmas and have done my first experimental piece.
I will be entering the Miniature show again this year with 2 pieces 3x4 inches and have been working on those.
I am also working on my online store to get that up and running, slowly hopefully everything will come together.
I will post my pieces for the show once I complete them.
I still have not touched a canvas I have been so busy visiting with family over the last few days...it has been nice being off to just relax, sleep in and not have to focus on anything like my course which I am now complete......
We are heading for the New Year very soon, I hope everyone that checks out my blog has had a great holiday so far and all the best for 2012.......
Here is a festive photo of my duck Dudley......
She is such a sweetie.....although I was lucky to get this photo...since she was full of attitude the day that I photographed her.....
With Christmas less than a month away and I am trying to finish up my OR course, I have not touched a canvas since my visit to Curry's my new favourite art store....hopefully I will get going on something soon......life and work can be so consuming that there is no other time for the things I love to do like painting.....December just becomes such a busy month.....
I am hoping to do a painting for my mother...it is in my head I just now need to being it to fruition.......
I am actually off to bed early and it is a rarity as I am a night hawk....so hopefully I will have a great sleep....well off I go....maybe I will be able to post my beginnings of my next painting soon......
For sale!!
So I am hoping to not only produce some pieces over the holidays....we will see how productive I am.....
with Christmas and travelling, family get togethers and so forth....I have a good solid week off work so it would be great to start my online gallery for sale....I have many photographic images and paintings.....
so if you see a piece that you like for now....just email me and let me know.....for pricing.....

It has always been my dream to start an online gallery and sell my art and photography globally.......
its just having the time to get it all set up......will work on it though.....
I am hopefully going to be experimenting abit with encaustic technique as well.....we'll see how that goes......
I have a trial on Yessy.com to see how much traffic it gets for an online gallery

if you have any suggestions for online websites for selling online art and photography let me know...I am still shopping around.......
Well I went to a new art store yesterday......it just opened up here in little old London....it is called Curry's...what a great art supply store just dedicated to ART....Micheals is great too but has a much smaller selection of art supplies.....
https://www.currys.com/locations.htm
check out their website.......
so I sit at my art table and stare.....have a couple of ideas for my next art project...I am just not sure which one to start.....hmmm.....
may post later....I have to go and think and figure out which one I want to start.......I am one of those that usually has a few canvases on the go.....don't feel like working on the old stuff that has been kicking around.....
debating whether or not to enter the Exposure 2011 Photograohy Competition....in Miami....
ciao for now.....
Well I have been so busy taking my course, and studying it really hasn't left much time for anything else. Hopefully I will be able to start a new piece this weekend.....or get out and photograph something.....you know working for a living tends to get in the way gobbles up all my time.....lol!!
Maybe I'll get out and do some shopping......
These are a couple of new pieces with Lots and Lots of texture....it is mixed media/plaster/nuts/newspaper and hardware on it with a metallic flare of colour which is signature in most of my pieces.
I decided to call these pieces Anarchy 1 and Anarchy 2 - Stuck in Time Series. They are 16x20.
Here is a sampling of some photography shoots that I have done, don't have time to update my website at this time.....so I thought I would post a few shots. Hope you enjoy.

This painting is acrylic on canvas and is 30x40. Thought I would do more of an abstract piece.
Well quite excited that another painting sold....I am always tickled pink when someone would like to buy one of my pieces. I am honoured that someone would hang it in their home. This is called the Tree of Life and is mixed media 16x20.
I haven't been painting as much as I would like...you know life and stuff gets in the way.....I started a new job a month ago and the learning curve has been huge so that really has been taking much of my time becoming certified as an OR nurse and am in the midst of taking the course. So once that is complete I am sure that I will be painting more.....and hopefully selling more too.......
Went to Victoria Park Art Gallery
Drove up to Kincardine yesterday to of course see my parents but also see my work hanging, as I dropped it off and never got to see it to completion. While I was there I also took some photos as well.
New Piece
This is an 8x10, it is also the same as Boundless Time where I drew the canvas about 7 years ago and it sat in my closet. I brought it out finally painted it and modified it from 7 years ago.
Funny how things hang around for so long.
Boundless Time
This is a canvas that I have had drawn for years and just was not sure what to do with it. So there it sat in a box for about 6 or 7 years at least. I finally pulled it out and painted it.
Fine Art Furniture
This was something that I wanted to try. I wanted the look of bright primary colours. I am going to experiment further with some original table designs.
Celtic Animal Symbology
I have always been intrigued by everything Celtic, music, symbols and animal imagery. I thought that I would do a small, colourful celtic series. I chose Animal Symbology due to the influence that animals have on my life in particular dogs and my duck. There are more to this series that I am currently working on. I chose 4x4 canvas as I wanted to see it displayed as a whole, but can still be individual.
Celtic Dog
In Celtic Times, a dog was a symbol of good luck, health and loyalty. Not much different from today. I have 2 wonderful dogs in my life.
Celtic Duck
I see my duck in this painting. I rescued a baby Aylesbury duck a year ago and she is an integral part of my daily life. In Celtic times, ducks were seen as honesty, sensitive to their surroundings, graceful, and beautiful. As I have gotten to know my duck "Dudley" I realize how smart ducks really are and how much personality they have. When I originally had Dudley, according to the research on the internet, I thought she was a boy until one day Dudley started laying eggs. By this time she already knew and responded to her name, so she will forever be known as Dudley.
Celtic Griffon
This is a symbol of Duality. Part Eagle and Lion both very strong and bold animals. They were known as protectors, nobile and symbols of justice.
Celtic Wren
These birds are natural care givers which intrigued me since I am a full time RN. It symbolizes me in many ways. Wrens are considered self motivated, resourceful and have high moral values.
Celtic Symbols
I used little rocks in this pieces to symbolize the primitive times that these symbols were derived from. This is just a series of two currently. I may expand on this series down the road. I kept with the 4x4 size to stay consistent with the Celtic Animal Series.
Tree of Life
Trees symbolize life to me. This belief extends into all cultures across time. I have a fascination with trees not just in my art but also in my photography. I have many series of photos of trees.
I stayed consistent with the same small stones that I used in the celtic series I utilized in this piece in the earth (bottom part of the piece). It is mixed media, I also incorporated spirals out of string. If you look at most of my pieces, not all, I am fascinated by spirals and use them in many of my pieces.
Pouring of Emotions
This piece is mixed media Acrylic and Aluminum. It is just as it shows a broken heart. Everyone has experienced feeling down or broken hearted at some point in their life.
Metallic Clover
This is Acrylic with Aluminum. I thought doing a 4 leaf clover would be fun.
Dans la jardine
This piece is mixed media Acrylic and Plaster of Paris. The interesting thing about this piece is that I started out doing something totally different when I started this piece almost 2 years ago. Again, the painting sat around for months as I wasn't happy with the direction that I was heading with it. I recently pulled it out and repainted the entire thing and am much happier with my end result. Many times, I feel that working on a painting is like a relationship in many ways, it goes well sometimes and others you have just had enough. As I have a history with each piece sometimes I have a hard time parting with them.
Miniature Show at the Art Exchange Feb 2011
I entered 2 pieces in the Miniatures show this past Feb. The pieces are 3x4 each.
Les Quatre Fleurs
This piece is a larger one. It is mixed media acrylic and plaster of paris. This piece was done for last year's show. I sold this piece privately just yesterday!!!
Untitled
This one is also large (80x100cm). I was not able to come up with a title for this one. It is mixed media, string plaster of paris foil and acrylic. This hangs in my living room.
Whirlwind Vortex Series
This series consists of 3 paintings, just completed. The first one is 16x20 and is mixed media plaster and acrylic on canvas.
Whirlwind Vortex #1
Modeled Chaos Series
This is a series of paintings called Modeled Chaos 1 and 2. They are Mixed Media, Acrylic, Plaster, Gold Leaf and with many various size washers on canvas. Hope that you like them. I enjoyed making them.
Miniatures Show at the Art Exchange Show 2010
I did one photograph and one 3x4 painting. Here they are.
La Vitalite is painted on cork board, using acrylic and stained glass and gold leaf.
