Another Painting SOLD....
Well quite excited that another painting sold....I am always tickled pink when someone would like to buy one of my pieces. I am honoured that someone would hang it in their home. This is called the Tree of Life and is mixed media 16x20.
I haven't been painting as much as I would like...you know life and stuff gets in the way.....I started a new job a month ago and the learning curve has been huge so that really has been taking much of my time becoming certified as an OR nurse and am in the midst of taking the course. So once that is complete I am sure that I will be painting more.....and hopefully selling more too.......

Latest Piece Called "Hibiscus"
Well it has been about a month since I posted my last piece. I was so excited today because I purchased a proper easel for larger pieces. I have been sitting on my floor for hours sometimes to paint the larger pieces.....so this is the first piece that I painted using my new easel.....
It is called "Hibiscus" acrylic on canvas 30x40. I took the photo as the paint was still drying..LOL!! This piece is also for sale. I am happy to say that my piece called "The Five Irises" sold to one of my mom's friends.
Also be sure to check out my portfolio that I have submitted for a Juried Art Show in Miami Florida. It is called Art Takes Miami 2011. Whoever wins will get International exposure in the art world. I can only dream at this point but I have nothing to lose.......and I need you to vote for me.....daily the more votes on my portfolio the better.....for the People's Choice Award.....
Check out my portfolio and give me a vote....it would be appreciated....thanks.

Goderich Tornado Devastation
So I went up to Kincardine to take my dad out for his birthday (Sept 3) and toured through Goderich since it is on the way.....and it was very heartbreaking to say the least. You really do not get the scope of the disaster til you are there and see it first hand. It almost makes you want to cry. Leaving town I donated to the Goderich Disaster Relief Fund.
There were many people driving around and walking around to see the disaster first hand.
So many people have lost everything. It has brought the town of Goderich together. They are beginning to slowly rebuild, but there are many century homes that are just going to have to be torn down. In many ways it opens your eyes and makes you realize just to feel lucky for what we have.
I walked around and felt a great sense of sadness for the town of Goderich for what they have lost.
The town is rebuilding and trying to get back to some sense of normalcy. It is good to see some resilience, we can all learn from them.

Latest Piece Called Grapevine on a trellis
Well its been awhile since I have completed any work. I have slowed down a little trying to enjoy the last little bit of summer that we have left. I recently sold my last piece called 5 Irises which I am tickled pink about. I am starting a new job in a week as well, so other things have been keeping me from painting as much as I would like.
Grapevine on a Trellis is 24 x 48, plaster on acylic one of my favourite textured mediums to experiment with.
The Western Fair is coming up and I have submitted 4 photographs this year. I have always gone to the western fair year after year to of course people watch but I also love their photography show. So head on down to the Western Fair starting Sept 9 and check out the photography. There is so much talent around.

Went to Victoria Park Art Gallery
Drove up to Kincardine yesterday to of course see my parents but also see my work hanging, as I dropped it off and never got to see it to completion. While I was there I also took some photos as well.

Me at the Victoria Park Gallery with my work
New Piece
This is an 8x10, it is also the same as Boundless Time where I drew the canvas about 7 years ago and it sat in my closet. I brought it out finally painted it and modified it from 7 years ago.
Funny how things hang around for so long.

Boundless Time
This is a canvas that I have had drawn for years and just was not sure what to do with it. So there it sat in a box for about 6 or 7 years at least. I finally pulled it out and painted it.

Celtic Animal Symbology
I have always been intrigued by everything Celtic, music, symbols and animal imagery. I thought that I would do a small, colourful celtic series. I chose Animal Symbology due to the influence that animals have on my life in particular dogs and my duck. There are more to this series that I am currently working on. I chose 4x4 canvas as I wanted to see it displayed as a whole, but can still be individual.
Celtic Dog
In Celtic Times, a dog was a symbol of good luck, health and loyalty. Not much different from today. I have 2 wonderful dogs in my life.

Celtic Dog 4x4
Celtic Duck
I see my duck in this painting. I rescued a baby Aylesbury duck a year ago and she is an integral part of my daily life. In Celtic times, ducks were seen as honesty, sensitive to their surroundings, graceful, and beautiful. As I have gotten to know my duck "Dudley" I realize how smart ducks really are and how much personality they have. When I originally had Dudley, according to the research on the internet, I thought she was a boy until one day Dudley started laying eggs. By this time she already knew and responded to her name, so she will forever be known as Dudley.

Celtic Duck 4x4
Celtic Griffon
This is a symbol of Duality. Part Eagle and Lion both very strong and bold animals. They were known as protectors, nobile and symbols of justice.

Celtic Griffon 4x4
Celtic Wren
These birds are natural care givers which intrigued me since I am a full time RN. It symbolizes me in many ways. Wrens are considered self motivated, resourceful and have high moral values.

Celtic Wren 4x4
Celtic Symbols
I used little rocks in this pieces to symbolize the primitive times that these symbols were derived from. This is just a series of two currently. I may expand on this series down the road. I kept with the 4x4 size to stay consistent with the Celtic Animal Series.

Celtic Love 4x4

Celtic Happiness 4x4
Tree of Life
Trees symbolize life to me. This belief extends into all cultures across time. I have a fascination with trees not just in my art but also in my photography. I have many series of photos of trees.
I stayed consistent with the same small stones that I used in the celtic series I utilized in this piece in the earth (bottom part of the piece). It is mixed media, I also incorporated spirals out of string. If you look at most of my pieces, not all, I am fascinated by spirals and use them in many of my pieces.

Tree of Life 16x20
Pouring of Emotions
This piece is mixed media Acrylic and Aluminum. It is just as it shows a broken heart. Everyone has experienced feeling down or broken hearted at some point in their life.
Pouring of Emotions 16x20
Metallic Clover
This is Acrylic with Aluminum. I thought doing a 4 leaf clover would be fun.

Dans la jardine
This piece is mixed media Acrylic and Plaster of Paris. The interesting thing about this piece is that I started out doing something totally different when I started this piece almost 2 years ago. Again, the painting sat around for months as I wasn't happy with the direction that I was heading with it. I recently pulled it out and repainted the entire thing and am much happier with my end result. Many times, I feel that working on a painting is like a relationship in many ways, it goes well sometimes and others you have just had enough. As I have a history with each piece sometimes I have a hard time parting with them.
